The other day we had our very first bacteriology lab in the CSI. What we did were essentially experiments to identify the microorganisms; namely Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria using the Gram staining and Catalase test. Actually i did Gram staining for my extended essay not long ago so i'm more or less familiar with the techniques and all. The second part was the hand washing experiment where they're trying to prove the importance of hand washing in clearing our hands from germs. We had to gently touch a blood agar with our fingertips before and after washing our hands to compare the difference. It's like ideally we shouldn't find our blood agar nourishing colonies of big fat microorganisms on the 'after hand washing' half of the agar and vice versa (after leaving the blood agar under appropriate conditions for some time).
The proper hand washing techniques were then introduced. Right after c
leaning our hands as appropriate we then went to see how clean actually our hands were under this special device that emits UV light. If our hands contain germs then we could see spots on our hands indicating where the germs are inhabiting. Guess what i didn't get my hands being that 'spick and span' even after washing 'em for two times! And after the lab i began to become more conscious on whatever i touch 'cos how dirty they could be is just imaginable. But that was just temporary though. Huhu.
I recently had this thought popped into my mind on how sophisticated it is to have a device that can buff up nasty spots on our hands. And imagine if there is a much bigger device that can shine a kind of light onto us and our ambient which then illuminate the shaytaans which are swarming us. Isn't that freaky? Freaky in the sense that believe it or not, they DO actually exist around us, whispering provocations or just anything that may aberrate us from Allah's path. It's about whether you are strong enough to resist those temptations, and only to Allah we seek help.
