Sometimes there are things in life that we ought to let go no matter how much we cherish and value them. Be it a commodity or an asset tangible or intangible, we need to put on that wisdom hat and act accordingly particularly when the risk-benefit quotient seems to only favour the former. When 'let go' sounds a bit polite, on the other hand the corresponding impolite version of it would be 'get rid'.
Again there's loads of components in life that we need to get rid of in order to becoming a better person and achieving an improved quality of life. There's a whole wide spectrum of it which ranges from as straightforward as getting rid of that spilling rubbish in your bin that seriously needs to be taken out and get the bag replaced; to a probably rather subjective issue such as replenishing your attitude cum getting rid of those nasty manners of yours [Jahiliyah].
After all it's about our judgment and personal discretion, as we are responsible to who we are and what we are doing thus what we'll receive in the future. No one in this world can be there all the time to make decisions for us so the ability to appraise logic and practicality somewhat lies in our hands. Of every single thing that comes under the sun, we need to carefully select those which we deem crucial and advantageous to top the list of our priority hierarchy so that we put first things first and don't overlook important matters over less important ones.
Okay enough with the lengthy intro which makes me feel like an unsung philosopher rambling the gobbledegook of unclear pertinence. Anyway! Sorry if I've wasted your last 2 minutes that have just passed!
In application of the above, I've taken a small step in my attempt to obtain more of the 24 hours a day granted by God- I've quitted Twitter. Just if you noticed [I don't really expect you to], this blog now no longer has the Twitter widget that used to adorn the right-handside, popping up my updates. After much deliberation I decided that tweeting costed too much of the scanty hours that I had in which I reckon lots of other things can actually be done in place of the hours I've spent tweeting. So there you go!
Twitter bird wished me teary goodbye as I closed my account. How dramatic.
I'm pretty much sure there's a lot more in myself that I need to look into and get rid of as well. Hope time will assist to illuminate those, and may Allah grant me the strength and show me the way to put my priority on all that deserves it.
And now, how about you? ;)
