| What is your true colour? |
You know the way we (or I, rather) used to think that if someone suddenly behaves out of his usual character, he is now showing his true colour? Say for example a quiet girl who has always been polite and decent unexpectedly gives out on another girl who spills paint onto her drawing. And the friends then say, 'Now she's showing her true colour!'.
I just wonder which one should we reasonably regard as her true colour, is it the politeness or the angriness?
Is it fair to change our perception on a person just based on one episode of his extraordinary action? As well as is it acceptable to make a deduction of someone's personality by looking at the one or two similar odd things that he has just done, thus forgetting how he had been behaving prior when that actually occupies most of how he reacts?
Talking statistics, if manners are quantifiable and if we establish someone's identity according to the resulting mean and median, I believe the outcome will well favour towards how he behaves most of the time, as opposed to the sudden change of character, which might as well be an outlier. Ya?
