Baby received her first injection today- BCG on her left shoulder. Brave baby did shed tears but she braced through smoothly and cried for only a short while. That's mommy's good girl!

We were honored with a surprise visit from my friend who is working as a doctor in CUMH, Kak Aimi whom was actually the one I made a phone call to to get advice on how to bring on labour, if you remember. We were hoping to go home today, baby hasn't been outside hospital yet! I therefore mentioned that to Kak Aimi, she volunteered to speak to the midwife to tell her about my wish. Baby hadn't been seen by any doctors yet since baby entered the world and I was clueless as to who should I speak to in order to get discharged early.

Anyway today baby was the most famous person of all as many people dropped in to see her, formally and informally. The first was Kak Aimi, followed by a pediatrician who came to check baby's reflexes as such. Baby passed the tests with flying colors. Well done love! 

Then the girls from hearing screening department came twice to see baby. In the first visit baby was crying loudly that the test couldn't be completed. Since we were planning to leave today, one of the girls mentioned about the option of getting an OPD appointment but that is going to be more tedious that we'd have to come back to the hospital just to have that done. As an alternative she offered to return a bit later today, and when the tests were repeated they were finished in one go. I got a small bit worried when a more advanced test like an ECG of the head equipped with the earpieces had to be done as they couldn't get a clear response in baby's right ear in the first, simpler test. However my sixth sense said that everything was going to be alright and alhamdulillah the test proved a normal functioning right ear, concluding that both ears are fine. It was probably mucus that was causing an interference in the former test, which will clear up on its own. Baby behaved very well this time. I am proud of you sweetheart.

Next the student midwife came to examine baby and I, including checking baby's oxygen saturation- 99%. Alhamdulillah.

Baby also received her first bath today! I requested to be taught by the midwife about how to bathe a baby, a very delicate creature. It was done in the nursery room, the same place where baby had her vaccination given. Baby was obviously enjoying having her head rubbed with warm water, untangling those fine soft hair still clumped together on her head. We actually tried wiping her with the wet tissues all over the body yesterday but of course the result won't be as outstanding as a 'real' bath. She however showed her maximum pitch of voice when the midwife dipped the her torso, arms and legs into the water. Must be a very frightening experience for a first timer isn't it? Baby however made it through and she clearly appeared more refreshed and slept more soundly after that. Mommy was so happy. 

Two cohorts of visitor arrived in the afternoon. The first was Aunty Kamel and Aunty Atiqah. They brought a cute pink teddybear for baby, which adds up to two as granny also gave baby a pink teddybear. The second group was Aunty Farah Wahida and Aunty Izyan who helped us carry stuff down to our car to leave the hospital. We we facing some difficulties getting baby properly strapped in the carseat, however things got sorted later alhamdulillah. So there you go baby waved goodbye to hospital and hello to her new home!
