Our family in KB was planning for a barbecue last night when suddenly shocking news appeared. A relation's baby who was at about Maryam's age passed away. We rushed to the HKB where the deceased's family were and got to see the deceased himself which was going to be brought to Pasir Mas later that night.
Given that I have a child of my own let alone of the same age I am quite moved by that death. I can feel what it is like to lose someone you love so dearly, whom you have dreams for when he grows up, whom you feel entertained when he was around, who has been 'in' and with you for the past a year or so (pregnancy = 40 weeks). How hard it must be especially for the mother that no words can describe, no tears can wipe it off at this time.
It is the ultimate reliance to Allah that will make us strong and steadfast come what may. Believe that all creatures on earth belong to Him, and it is Him alone who is forever immortal for human beings are not. An incident like this is a perfect time for us to reflect who do we hold on to. It could be our husband, family and friends but the utmost should be Allah. He is always there through our happiness and sorrow, it is just whether we take notice or not. Always pray to Him, pray to Him for the best.
The baby passed away from sepsis secondary to atypical pneumonia after having had fever for 2 days, which is quite rapid. Let us together pay extra attention when our kid is sick. Keep an eye on her breathing, if she is producing any sound to express difficulty in getting air in or out (wheezing, grunting). Also another red flag is if she refuses feed- this is alarming. Don't delay in getting our kids to the hospital when this happens as at least they can provide symptomatic relief in the tertiary centre (oxygen, BiPAP).
May Allah give strength to the family. My heartfelt condolence to them.
May Allah give health to us all.
May Allah give the chance for me to bring up my children to become an obedient servant of His.
